About Us

Welcome to the wonderful world of Boy Scouts.  At Troop 620, we believe in the core values of Scouting.  We are building the leaders of tomorrow by emphasizing leadership and character our programs.  We use the BSA Patrol Method, which emphasizes boy leadership and personal responsibility.

Our troop program is planned and executed by the Scouts themselves, based on their interests and the needs of the troop.  The advancement program is supported by troop activities, but the pace of an individual Scout’s advancement is dependent, to a great degree, on his own initiative.  The outdoor program offers something for everyone, from events designed for first year Scouts to a full High Adventure program for our older and higher ranking Scouts.

All of these programs are designed to build the leadership qualities and moral fortitude that our young men will need when they reach adulthood.

If you are interested joining or learning more, please stop by one of our meetings or send an email to the webmaster at jeffreyfeng@troop620.orgOur weekly meetings are held at St. Marks Lutheran Church and School in Hacienda Heights, CA.  We meet every Monday, from 7:00PM to 8:30PM throughout the year.

Troop Profile

·         We have approximately 50 registered boys, ranging in age from 11 to 17, and ranging in rank from Scout to Eagle.

·         We have approximately 35 registered adults, including 8 uniformed Assistant Scoutmasters and Committee Members.

First Year Scout Program

·         Our First Year Scout Program is specially designed to ease the transition from Cub Scouts to Boy Scouts.

·         We have an Assistant Scoutmaster dedicated to this program, in addition to three to four Troop Guides (older Scouts).

·         Advancement is encouraged but not demanded.  Scout skills are emphasized and independence is encouraged.

 Outdoors Program

·         We offer approximately 20 outings per year, to various areas around Southern California.  We strive to balance our  outings between backpacking (where the boys carry everything they need for the weekend in backpacks) and tailgating (where we carry our equipment in vehicles and park at the campsite).

·         We offer a summer camp opportunity each summer.  Summer camp is open to all Scouts in the troop, and is conducted at an established Boy Scout Camp.  Additionally we do have high adventure outings where we go river rafting for example.  We have also been to San Diego Naval Air Station, and Vandenberg Air Force Base.

Parent Participation

·         At least one parent from each family must complete BSA Youth Protection Training before joining the troop.

·         At least one parent from each family is required to volunteer in some capacity for the troop.  Ample opportunities exist!
